Biography (En)
Daniel Casimir, trombonist, tubist, composer and arranger was born in Celle (Lower Saxony, Germany) and received classical trombone lessons from Uwe Dierksen (soloist in the “Ensemble Modern”) at the district music school there. Albert Mangelsdorff soon appointed him to the “German-French Jazz Ensemble” and gave him individual lessons on the jazz trombone. After studying at the “New School” in New York (trombone, composition, arrangement and improvisation) and a longer stay in Rio de Janeiro, he lived as a freelance musician in Paris between 1992 and 2011, in Barcelona from 2012 to 2014 and in Berlin since 2015. He has released several CDs under his name which have received critics’ and/or audience awards in France and can be heard as a soloist on dozens of other recordings. He also composes for soloists and ensembles of classical and contemporary music and has received a state commission for this in France. In addition to the trombone and tuba, he also plays various other brass instruments such as the euphonium, alto horn, flugelhorn, etc.
